Village House Accommodation

All of our accommodation in Yuvacali is home stays. This gives visitors a completely unique opportunity to observe Kurdish culture firsthand, while at the same time ensuring that the people of Yuvacali benefit directly.

Your Stay

Your stay in village accommodation will begin with a welcome talk in which the local culture and history is explained in detail.

During your time with your host family, you will get the chance to learn how to milk a sheep and try your hand at making bread over an open fire. Furthermore, a guided walk of the main points of archaeological interest in the village is also included.

While accommodation is basic and facilities are shared, the families in the village go out of their way to make your stay an unforgettable experience.

Accomodation

Local hospitality

Stay with a family on their smallholding to enjoy local hospitality at its best. Dine sumptuously before reclining on soft woolen beds to sleep. In the hot summer months, sleep under the stars, spending the night outside as the villagers do, with spectacular views across the Mesopotamian plains towards Nemrut. In the winter months, snuggle under handmade quilts around ecologically friendly dung burning stoves.

Home produced food

Home produced food

All of the food you eat is home produced. The bread is made each morning over a fire. The bulgur wheat (served instead of rice) comes from the family’s wheat field and has been processed at home. The cheese, yoghurt, ayran, butter, and milk come from the family’s sheep and cows. Vegetables and fruit are grown in the kitchen garden. The family’s chickens provide both eggs and meat.
